Big Announcement! Times Are Tough Link Party Coming Soon!

Okay, I keep hearing on the news everyday about the economy, the BP spill, the war, and how everyone is short of cash. So, I decided to put together a special link party to help out a few of you out there.

Some of you work very hard making handmade items for your blog and Etsy, but most of the time link parties don't want you linking to your Etsy store. But this party will be completely the opposite.

This party will allow you to post up to 3 thumbnails showing off your best handmade items. And the best part is....I will let you link directly to your Etsy store. It is my hope that by doing this it will help put some cash in everyones pocket.

The name of this party will be...

Times are Tough Thursday!

I hope all of you who need a little extra boost in your Etsy stores will stop by and join the party.

By the way, I realize that you probably can't link back to Tools Are For Women Too from your Etsy site. I am fine with that. I think the bigger picture here is that we all work together as bloggers and craftspeople. If you decide to join the party, maybe you can link back to me from your blog. Whatever you do is fine. I just wanted to do a little something for all of you, if I could.

The party will start this Thursday. Please round up those items you need to sell. Any handmade items, made by you personally are eligible for the party.

What a great idea and a wonderful thing for you to do! We don't have an etsy shop just yet, but hopefully soon!

Glad you two like the idea. One of the things I intend on doing to make the party even better is to allow plenty of charachter space for item descriptions. Also I will be allowing you to post the price of your item in the description under the thumbnail.

This should be a huge link party if the word gets out there. Please spread the word.

Rebekah,

It will not be limited to Etsy Items. There are people craftswomen out there who sell their handmade items on their blog, but don't have an Etsy store. Basically, if you make it yourself and sell it, I will let you post it.

Very nice idea Rory... and very good of you to want to just help out the other guy! Don't have an Esty shop, but I'll be back to check in to see what goodies people post.

Lisa,

I tend to think that the favor will come back around from most people somehow. At least that's what I am counting on. Everybody needs a helping hand once in a while and I thought it might be a way to "pay it forward", so to speak.

Hi Grace,

Great question. Link parties anable you to establish a link from my blog to yours, or in this case to the item you will be wanting to sell.

I have a similar link party going on right now called Modern Craftswoman Monday, for crafters that is more typical of the blog parties out there.

If you scroll down on my main page, you will see the party and the thumbnail pictures that were posted.

Entering a link party is easy. All you have to do is copy and paste the html of your project or item, upload a picture, and enter your email address. Pretty easy.

It is considered a common courtesy at all link parties to mention the party on your blog or site if possible and link to it, to help advertise and promote the party.

I will be posting the party rules on Thursday and I would love to have you join us.

Donna,
I am not sure how you would link back to the party from your Etsy store, but linking back from your blog works fine. Anyway you can think of to get craftswomen to attend is terrific.

By the way, I posted the party announcement in a couple of Etsy forums. If anyone else has ideas on how to promote it, please do. Thank you all for your support. I think this party is going to be win-win for everyone that participates.
